As a child I could not wait for January 6th! In the Mexican tradition Santa Claus does not bring presents but instead Los Reyes Magos “The Wise Men” were the ones who did. The night before I would write a letter to them in which I asked for the toys I wanted and when I was done I would place it inside of one of my shoes. I know it sounds funny but that’s the way it has always been done.
Then January 6th rolled in and I would always wake up to toys at the feet of my bed. It was the most exciting feeling in the world! Then next activity in schedule was to get the toys out of the boxes and take them outside to brag and show them off to the other kids.
Even though I am supposedly all grown up my parents in-law still buy me a gift on January 6th. This year I received a lovely necklace and I just LOVE IT! This tradition just brings the child in me and it also brings amazing childhood memories.
